Electric Drum kit – are there silencers for drums and cymbals?
Hi,
I just bought an electronic drum kit Legacy DD506 (Yes, I know, I should have gone with a Roland, but in these economic times, can't afford it).
Anyway, I do find the pads and cymbals very loud, as in I have to put up the volume of the amp to overcome the noise from striking the pads. Which defeats the purpose of having an electronic kit. It's suppose to be as quite as possible, and I do want my amp to be at minimal volume and not disturb the neighbors. I do live in an apartment.
So anyway, are there any pad silencers for electronic drums and cymbals? I know they have silencers for real drum kits.
If anyone knows, send me a link to a website as well. Thanks in advance.

A simple solution I found was to get a pair of the big headphones that cover your ears completely. This dampens the acoustic sound of hitting the pads and allows you to hear yourself much better and keeps the neighbors happy.
I don’t know of anything you could put on the pads to dampen the acoustic sound that wouldn’t probably affect the response of the pad, but if you wanted to you could simply try putting some pieces of cloth or thin packing material on the pad and see what happens. You could also check out a site like http://electricdrumsets.net/index.php?cPath=2 to see if they have anything different. But I would go for the headphones.
