What is a good set of drums for a drummer in a 70′s 80′s cover rock band? Pearl, Gretsch, Tama?
Please give me the type of drums, and the type of wood that would be best.

My opinion Ludwigs, maple.
Tama makes really good quality drums that are not too over priced. Look for their line called Rock Star. They would be perfect the perfect set. Not too little not too much, in price and in quanity.
Gretsch is the best Drum Set period! Ask Phil Collins Yes, Phil Collins got drummer of the year twice. I’ve played every set out there. Ludwig, Yamaha, Tama, pearl, D drums, Dw, mapex, pacific, sonor… you name it I’ve played it. Gretsch has the best shells the sound great. the Master himself used Gretsch (Buddy Rich)do you know of a better drummer than him.
